Description of the team's research topic:

Our team is involved in many research topics in high energy and mathematical physics, ranging from QCD phenomenology, BSM searches, collider-detector phenomenology, physics modelling at colliders, quantum gravity, path-integral formulation, etc ...Phenomenology of High-Energy Particle Physics:
We perform detailed calculations using QCD theory to predict cross sections of various quantities that are of interest in standard model physics, such as electroweak processes, jets, top quakr, Higgs etc. We compare our results to data from particle colliders around the world (such as the LHC in Geneva) to improve our understanding of the structure of matter and enable the search for standard model particles and beyond. Our team is also interested in the use of modern tools to improve the search strategy for new physics signals at colliders, specifically machine-learning techniques. Our interest includes applying these techniques in order to gain more insight into the physics of jet substructure and how to improve the search for BSM signals by means of reducing background noise. Our team also works on Physics modelling at colliders, where we are interested in the improvement of HEP tools that simulate interactions for LHC Physics (namely Pythia 8).

Non-commutative geometry: The non-commutativity of spatial coordinates is an interesting theory that can be used for a quantum theory of gravity. We use various quantum systems (relativistic and non-relativistic) and study the effect of the non-commutativity of space-time on the energy levels associated with the systems, and comparing to experimental results we set bounds on the non-commutativity parameter.

Path integrals: We apply the formalism of path integrals to various quantum mechanical problems that are not straightforward to solve using usual quantum mechanics.

Description of the research theme of the team:

Since the accreditation of our laboratory LRPRIM, all the research objectives of our team have been carried out in France at the P' Institute of the Department of Physics and Mechanics of Materials of the ENSMA of Poitiers and this, following a scientific collaboration that lasted from 2002 to 2018.

From 2002 to 2013 with Mr. André Rivière, university professor in solid-state physics and head of the mechanical spectrometry team of the LMPM at the National School of Mechanics and Aerotechnics (ENSMA) - Poitiers. After his retirement, this collaboration continued until 2018 with Séverine Boyer and Michel Gerland within the research unit P' CNRS created in 2010 in partnership with the ISAE-ENSMA of Poitiers.

Given the lack of scientific equipment at the LRPRIM laboratory during this period, this collaboration project allowed us to develop research themes. The Internal Friction (IF)   tests based on the study by isothermal mechanical spectroscopy (IMS) of the relaxation effects observed at high temperature on a wide range of metals and alloys as well as on the study of the non-thermally activated relaxation effect associated with the precipitation process in structurally hardening alloys.

Recently, we have acquired new equipment at LRPRIM including a DMA for our team, which will allow us to perform several different and complementary tests among which we will mention the Internal Friction, Fatigue and Creep tests on various metals and alloys as well as on ceramics.

This apparatus will be functional as soon as the objective conditions are met with the development of a test schedule proposed by the various members of the team.
